Check out the current redemption rates and the new Free Night Award Chart that starts August 18. Then, decide if you want to book now to redeem for free nights before or after the changes take effect to make the most of your redemption power.

Receive a new member number.

You’ll get your new member number in a communication from us and when you log in to your account starting August 18. Don’t worry if you forget your new number, we’ll remind you when you log in to our websites.

August 18: One program goes live.

Enjoy new benefits at 6,500 participating hotels across 29 brands.

  • NOTE: Our systems will be down much of August 18 starting at approximately 6 a.m. EST to launch your new member experience. In addition, you may experience temporary disruptions in making reservations and accessing your account via our websites, apps and Call Centers for a period of time following this systems outage. Thank you for your patience during this transition.
  • If you’re an Elite member, you’ll be able to see your new Elite status and all the benefits that go with it.
  • Book any of our hotels, across all our websites.

On August 18, we are launching our updated websites and app, so you can seamlessly book across all 6,500 hotels. We’ll help guide you through these new experiences as they become available.

Combine your accounts to maximize your benefits.

Update your email to make sure you get a communication when our one program is live and you’re able to combine your SPG and Rewards accounts. Combining your accounts will create a single account and profile — and automatically add up your points and Elite-night balances.

REMINDER: Here’s how SPG is changing.

Six things you need to know.

  1. 1 Starpoints Convert to Points.

    • In a one-time conversion on August 18, Starpoints® will automatically become points and your Starpoints balance will be multiplied by three.
    • Starting August 18, you’ll earn 10 points per US$1 spent on eligible hotel charges (5 points per eligible US$1 at ElementSM, Residence Inn® and TownePlace Suites® hotels). Elite members earn even more.

  2. 2 Combine Accounts into One.

    • If you have an account with Marriott Rewards or The Ritz-Carlton Rewards in addition to your SPG account, you’ll want to combine them starting August 18 (even if you’ve already linked them).
    • Combining accounts will create a single account and profile; and it will add up your points and Elite-night balances — you might even achieve a new Elite status! We will provide you with all the details as August 18 gets closer. Bookmark this page for updates and details.
    • Note: Any past reservations will be updated to display within 24 to 48 hours of when you combine your accounts.
    • Make sure we have your current email address so we can notify you when it’s time to take this action.

  3. 3 New Elite Status Levels and Benefits.

    • On August 18, we’ll launch new Elite status levels and new benefits, including a new Silver Elite status achieved at 10 nights. Click here to learn more.
    • Starting January 1, 2019, Elite status will be achieved on nights and not on stays. Until then, SPG members can achieve status based on stays at SPG-associated brands only, but can also qualify based on nights across the 29 brands.
    • Existing Elite members will continue to be Elite and will achieve a new, similar tier level on August 18. Elite tier will be based on the status earned, not status granted via linking and status matching. See chart below for August status.
    • Don’t forget — when you combine accounts, you could also achieve a higher Elite tier — based on combined SPG and Rewards nights stayed across our 29 brands, starting from January 1, 2018.
    • If you’ve previously achieved Lifetime Elite status in SPG or Rewards, you will have that Lifetime Elite status in the new program. In addition, when you combine SPG and Rewards accounts, we will combine your lifetime activity across both toward Lifetime Elite status in the new combined program.
    • And, if you’ve achieved Elite status in both Rewards and SPG in a single year, it will count as two years toward Lifetime status.

  2. 5 New Redemption Opportunities.

    Free Nights:

    • Our new Free Night Award Chart will offer you 6,500 participating hotels across all 29 participating brands — still with no blackout dates. Redeem for nights in overwater bungalows, former palaces and so much more.
    • On August 18, standard redemption rates for hotel Categories 1-7 will be available. Peak, off-peak and Category 8 redemption rates will be introduced in early 2019.
    • Book like an insider. Compare redemption rates at all 6,500 participating hotels and decide if you want to redeem before or after the new Free Night Award Chart takes effect on August 18.

    Airline Miles:

    • You’ll be able to transfer points to more than 40 airlines, including new options, such as Qantas, JetBlue, Turkish and more. The new ratio will be 3 points for one mile.
    • Plus, starting in August, we’ll add 15,000 points for every 60,000 points you transfer to airline miles, providing you with a total of 25,000 miles in the airline program of your choice.
